Life in Fife

Life in Fife 4

Performed at the ALHAMBRA in Dunfermline on Friday 20th November 2009.This event which combined all of the Arts(music, dance, drama and artwork) was a great hit. Photo's from the performance added Background to this Event.

Earlier in the year, the arts team were contacted by Live Music Now, who organise collaborative musical projects. Alba Brass, which is a quintet. of young professional brass instrument players, were available for a musical project, involving our service users. Some ideas were discussed, and the subject of Life in Fife was chosen, as it would offer service users the chance to create something around their own experiences of life in the Kingdom. The venue was chosen – the Alhambra in Dunfermline seemed to meet all the requirements , and is a prestigious place.

Now the arts workers had to consult prospective performers, props- builders, musicians, actors and singers, and then the work could begin.

Since then, t

he show has been steadily taking place ; music has been composed and played, giant musical instruments have been made from chicken wire and papier mache, and the cast and dancers have been learning their parts.

The first workshop with Alba Brass has taken place, and both sets of musicians really worked well together. Work was done with the “soundbeam “ equipment , which produced some amazing results.

Altogether, we can promise a fantastic, inspirational performance, which showcases the combined strengths and talents of WFCSS service users and staff, and the musicians of Alba Brass.
