The objectives defined by project staff to ensure that aims of the Service are met are:
- To play a major supporting role in the continuation of rehabilitation programmes as identified by members of the rehabilitation team, further to consultation with clients/carers.
- To promote independence by means of implementing individual programmes within appropriate community settings, e.g. client's home, local leisure and recreational facilities.
- To ensure that programmes address the physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs of individuals.
- To continue to actively liaise with colleagues within the relevant multi-disciplinary teams/agencies e.g. Headway, Cameron Hospital, Astley Ainslie Hospital, Scottish Head Injury Forum and Brain Injury Social Work Group.
- To provide, when appropriate and subject to assessed need, a flexible service in response to the changing needs of clients who have suffered a traumatic brain injury and the needs of their carers.
- To assist in the maintenance of established relevant support networks for clients and carers.
- To maintain and add to a developing information base.
- To promote importance of leisure and recreational activities throughout the rehabilitation process.
- To promote awareness and understanding of the causes and effects of traumatic brain injury.
