The Book Group

Centre members enjoy a good read as much as the next person. Staff members have read a wide variety of books to the Book Group. These have included Paul Galliicoe, Lillian Beckwith's The Spuddy and also Harry Potter, along with most of the population in Britain. As a follow on the group had a trip to the cinema to see the films which was a good reason as any for a day out.

Computing helps develop new skillsWe hold regular computer groups enabling members to develop a variety of cognitive skills with graphics, word-processing and educational games. We employ assistive technology such as special keyboards, joysticks and graphics tablets to make IT more accessible to some members with poor fine-motor skills.

Training Kitchen

Centre members are able to practise and learn new skills taking into account health and safety issues. The focus is on a well balanced diet. The groups discuss healthy eating, budgeting, food hygiene, go to the local shops to buy ingredients and then cook the meal in the recently refurbished kitchen. As with anything 'a little bit of what you fancy does you good', so cakes are a popular choice on occasions.
