One day I was talking with Amy and she found out that I used to climb when I was in the Mountain Rescue Team. She asked me if I fancied having a go again and I said "Yes", so Amy planned a visit to Ratho to show me where we would go climbing. We went to reception to see if we could be shown where I would be doing the climbing. Once downstairs I first saw the routes ñ I was well impressed as it looked well laid out and I was looking forward to see if I could do it!!
The next time I went to Ratho I met my instructor Nick who got me kitted out with a harness, helmet and climbing boots. I was then led down to where I would start the climb. I was shown which route to take and I was attached to a safety rope. Nick told me to start climbing. As soon as I started things fell into place. Nick asked if I climbed before and I said "Yes".
As I started to get near to the top I began to feel tired so I decided to call it a day and come down. Once down I was asked if Iíd like to have a go at tying a figure of eight knot ñ itís used to attach the climber to the safety rope. I did ñ and it all started to come back. It was a brilliant day as I was able to overcome my fear that I was going to hurt myself. Iím looking forward to my next challenge.
On the next visit I met my instructor Nick, who had helped me the last time. I was taken upstairs and kitted out with my climbing boots and harness. Then it was time to get down to where I was going to climb. I was asked if I wanted to have a shot of tying the knot to put into my harness which I did. I went up to the rock-face and started to climb. This time I got to the top!! Once down I was asked if I wanted to do another route. I said "Yes" and started the route but as I was a bit tired I didnít complete the route straight away. However, after I had a rest hanging on the rope, I then started to climb and I managed to finish. Once I was down I decided to call it a day. After getting out of my gear I asked if we could go for a drink, which we did.

Hi there Jamie here again, on yet another bus journey, this time it's the No. 55 Stagecoach bus to Edinburgh!
The weather was wet but it didnít dampen my excitement as I waited at the bus stop. The journey to Edinburgh took an hour and I really enjoyed being on the bus, watching all the scenery whiz by. The space for wheelchairs is quite small and anyone going with a wheelchair bigger than mine might struggle to fit with someone sitting next to them.
We got off the bus at George Street and walked along Princess Street, looking at the Christmas lights in some of the shops. We found a really nice place called the ìFilling Stationî it had lots of balloons and the staff were really nice. I wasnít really hungry so I had a drink instead.
After lunch we went to St James Centre and there were loads of lights and music. I also really enjoyed looking at all the things in the Disney Store.
We then began our journey back to Dunfermline. The staff were really helpful assisting me to use the ramp to get on and off the bus. I enjoyed my day out and I am looking forward to going again.
I attend a pottery class on a Wednesday afternoon, at Lochgelly Centre, they also have a class in the evening which one of our Community Support Workers attend.
The class tutor is Shona. She is very nice and very helpful in class. We have a well attended class in the afternoon and a good mixture of people. During my three years at the class I have made many items, ranging for a trinket box to a windmill.
There are different stages of pottery:
I am a member of the Grange Resource Centre with various disabilities therefore I am a wheelchair user. With support from staff I have been able to access many varied activities e.g. drama class, art, shopping and have the occasional bar lunch in town or even as far afield as Edinburgh.
As I felt that I needed a change, I discovered to my delight that I was able to go to a Beauty Salon in Crossgates, called ìWax and Relaxî the staff there have been so supportive and friendly and there are plenty choices of treatments that are available to me. Currently I am having my hair washed and blow dried on a weekly basis
as well as trying out manicures
and pedicures and my favourite, a head massage. So for those of you that are reading this, just think of me sitting there each week being totally pampered and CHILLED OUT!!!!!!
After my last trip to Cluny Clays which I thoroughly enjoyed I was asked if I would like to go back in September ñ I bet you can guess what I said ë?í. So on 22nd September the group assembled ñ me, Henry and Andrew.
At Cluny Clays we were asked what we wanted to do ñ we all choose to do 3 things ñ archery, air rifle shooting and Clay Pigeon shooting.
We met our instructor who said we would have a competition against each other and when we did our event we would get scored on it. We did archery first which went well as did the air rifle shooting. We stopped for lunch as we were doing Clay Pigeon Shooting in the afternoon.
After lunch a new instructor (male) got us together and we went onto the range. When it came up to my turn I out the gun into my right shoulder I fired and missed so my instructor suggested I put the gun into my left shoulder which I did. I fired and hit my clay. I did miss a few times and I hit)t my clay (check it I hit 2 or 3 clays).
Henry stepped up to fire his gun and he hit most of his clays ñ he is now known as 2-ton Henry.
After we had finished we had to go in and get our scores ñ I was 3rd, Andrew 2nd and Henry 1st. We got presented with medals and when it came to Henry he made our female instructor bend across to him and he gave the lady a wee peck on the check. All in all I feel a great day was had by all and I look forward to going back soon.
