Grange Resource Centre Mission Statement

The supported living service provided by the Grange Resource Centre, through consultation with centre members/carers and staff, aims to offer opportunities that promote the principles of both person centred planning and inclusion. The development of individual potential and acknowledgement of the importance of self-worth are key factors in the support provided to Centre members.

The Service provided and supported by all staff at the Grange Centre recognises and believes that:

  • everybody should be valued and treated equally, irrespective of race/religion/gender or ability without judgement or prejudice, respecting confidentiality at all times.
  • Centre members will be treated as individuals who have the right to make informed choices/decisions about both their Centre provision and their personal lives.
  • respecting and maintaining dignity and privacy of Centre members is crucial at all times.
  • person centred approaches allows and supports Centre members to express their views freely, and to have those views acted upon where necessary.
  • Centre members will be supported when requested and where necessary to change their personal plan or programme. This will take account of changes in personal requirements and the plan or programme not meeting individual expectations.
  • all Centre members have the capacity to learn, grow and develop if the right person centred opportunities/activities are afforded to those individuals. These person centred opportunities/activities will be in relation to individual hopes and aspirations and where staff resources permit, the appropriate support will be provided.
  • that the recognition of the value, worth, individualism and commitment of team colleagues contributes to and maintains a good team spirit providing a good quality service.

Community Activities/Opportunities

The Centre attempts, where possible to provide members with one to one support, so that they may access those community activities/opportunities as requested in their personal programme.

These activities/opportunities cover a wide range of educational, recreational and leisure pursuits which currently include: accessing local college to undertake media studies, daily living skills, going to the cinema, personal shopping/banking, support for accessing dental/doctor appointments, accessing library services, pottery and art classes.

Centre Activities/Opportunities

In the Grange Centre, support can also be given to members on an individual or group basis to participate in many activities or opportunities such as: relaxation, (including hand/foot massage), developing educational and leisure interests, computer skills. developing literacy skills, basic cooking/baking, a variety of art activities, discussion groups, music and movement, carpet bowls. pool etc.

Any activities/opportunities requested by Centre members will be supported, subject to availability of resources which may include staffing, transport and cost of activity.

Outreach Support

In addition to the core services provided by the Grange Centre, we currently support three outreach groups in the following localities:

  • Rosyth (Wednesday)
  • Hill of Beath (Thursday and Friday)

Outreach support allows people to receive a day support service within or near their own local community.

Although these groups are supported by minimal staff and transport from the Grange Centre, they continue to grow and develop by means of self-funding.

Irrespective of the activity/opportunity being supported, recognition and respect is given to existing life skills and activities and at all times encouragement is given to the development of new skills that may contribute to an improved quality of life.
