This year the Ocean Youth Trust offered the opportunity to participate in a voyage from Greenock around the Isle of Bute on to Vardie, Tarburt, the Burnt Islands and back to Greenock over 7 days from Monday 27th September- Sunday 3rd October.
David Ferguson, Sandy Gardener, Ryan Peterson and Jimmy Wood joined Christian, Denise and Dan the skipper on the voyage that also included 3 other people from the Robert Gough Centre.
There were many challenges including sailing the yacht, cooking meals and trying to sleep in cramped conditions on board.
On the 30th of April, a group of 8 service users completed their Caledonian Award. This is an award similar to the Duke of Edinburgh Award and includes a residential trip. Last week everyone got together for our first ëOpen Forumí. This is a meeting where everyone from Dalgairn comes together as a follow on from our consultation day and the new grading system put in place by the Care Commission. It was a great opportunity for all service users and staff to bring up any topics for discussion.
The meeting was led by Chris Morris and our Centre Committee with an open agenda. Most people enjoyed participating in the forum and several service users brought up some very useful and interesting points for discussion.
Dalgairn carpet bowlers had a very successful competition last Thursday at Aberhill Bowling Club.
Wendy Thomson, Tonia Coe and Jimmy wood all won trophies; needless to say, we had a great day that was enjoyed by all.
As you can see from the photo, Tonia is very pleased to be winning bowling trophies for the first time. She says it makes all that practice worthwhile!
We are in the process of organising electlons for new members of Dalgairn Centre Committee. The results will be available here in a few weeks. Good luck to all the candidates!
